ICE Raids in Chicago

ICE Raids in Chicago

By Prime Path Immigration Law Firm Limited USA, on Immigration Updates

In the early morning hours of September 30, 2025, federal agents conducted a dramatic immigration enforcement operation in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood, with agents rappelling from Black Hawk helicopters onto the rooftops of a five-story apartment complex. Nearly 300 federal agents from ICE, FBI, and U.S. Border Patrol participated in the raid, which was part of "Operation Midway Blitz" targeting suspected members of Tren de Aragua, a Venezuelan gang designated as a terrorist organization by the Trump administration. The operation resulted in the arrest of approximately 30 undocumented immigrants, several suspected of gang affiliation.

The raid represents an escalation in the Trump administration's immigration enforcement efforts in Chicago, with officials promising an increased federal presence in the city. The operation has sparked controversy, drawing criticism from Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, who stated that Trump's actions are not making Illinois safer, while DHS defended the tactics as necessary to remove "the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens—including murderers, rapists, gang members, pedophiles, and terrorists—from Chicago communities." U.S. Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino, who oversaw the operation, indicated that residents should expect continued enforcement actions.
